AXA Awards $30,000 Worth of Scholarships to Dress for Success

Dress for Success Worldwide has partnered for the eighth year in a row with AXA for the “Pursuit Beyond the Suit” scholarship program. Since 2009, AXA has helped Dress for Success empower women on the road to success with their national educational scholarship. This year AXA will fund $30,000 worth of scholarships to five Dress for Success clients.

“AXA is a company that helps people plan for their financial futures and awarding these scholarships is a small [but] manageable step in this direction,” said President of the AXA Foundation, Faith Frank. “[We] want to ensure that the Dress for Success women have the opportunity to continue their education and that they can achieve anything they want.”

The Pursuit Beyond the Suit scholarship is open to active members of the Professional Women’s Group (PWG), a monthly networking program that assists Dress for Success clients with their transition into the workforce and advance in their careers. Clients of PWG have to be members for at least one year to qualify. In addition to being a member of PWG, they must also be currently enrolled in a degree program and they must provide their GPA along with class grades.

“Part of our mission at Dress for Success has always been to help our clients achieve higher levels of education and AXA has made it possible for us,” says Joi Gordon, CEO of Dress for Success. “This year we are proud to celebrate the eighth year of our partnership and we are so grateful for their continued support. AXA’s generosity allows us to provide additional opportunities and continue opening doors for women around the world.”

Although the number of women entering the workforce has grown throughout the years, there’s still more work to be done. With the help of AXA’s scholarship, women will be able to reach their educational goals and have a professional career. “Women are continuing to grow their earnings – currently, female entrepreneurs account for 36% of business owners,” Frank told Dress for Success. “AXA knows women need to make sure they know how to protect their money for themselves, their families and for their futures.”

Scholarship winners will be announced at the annual Women in Business: Making Change breakfast fundraiser in September. The fundraiser supports the Financial Education Program that educates women on how to manage their finances. Pursuit Beyond the Suit is more than just dressing for the job, it’s about empowering women and giving them the support they need to achieve their dreams. “Dress for Success created the name ‘Pursuit Beyond the Suit’ for this scholarship program because they know that achieving true economic independence takes more than just a great looking suit – even more than landing a first job,” said Frank. “It’s a long-term commitment to financial discipline and career development.”
