Mirlande was raised by her parents from Haiti in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY. She began her journey at Dress for Success in 2008 after being referred by one of Dress for Success’ partnering agency, The Rockaway Development & Revitalization Corporation. After being at Dress for Success for 10 years and attending multiple programs, Mirlande’s most recent achievement was completing The Walmart Foundation’s Retail Jobs Trajectory (RJT) Program on May 31st, 2018.
Mirlande strongly recommends this retail sector program that provides knowledge, skills, and confidence to climb the career ladder and advance in their current roles and Dress for Success to all women. She believes Retail Jobs Trajectory has given her the confidence to be an advocate for herself and her work, “Because of the Walmart Foundation, I’ve learned to speak up, ask for what I want, understand my work performance and accepting feedback from my supervisor. I have engaged in the Retail Jobs Trajectory training and it’s already leading me to possible promotions in my career.”
Mirlande is currently a Linen Distribution Clerk and hopes to advance in her career from the skills she has learned from the Retail Jobs Trajectory program.
